Rev. Marjorie Matty, Minister. Homily: "Animal Blessing". Parents and friends of animals are encouraged to bring their "well behaved" familiars to church. This invitation extends to the hairy, furry, fluffy, feathery and yes those scaly ones that we adore as well. Please bring your non-human friends and family members in carriers, containers and on leash. This will be a true test of the old adage of the lion coexisting with the lamb. If you wish you could bring that "not so well behaved" familiar we recommend bringing a picture instead and we will send loving energy to them from afar. Lastly, if you lost an animal familiar this year bring a picture and they will be acknowledged and blessed during the service as well. Oh and invite your human friends and family as well!

Sermon by Rev. Annika (Anne Kleschinsky). Is Thanksgiving a holy event or just a big feast? Most of us sit down to a big meal with family and friends and remember what we are thankful for -- maybe it is both. This year, there is a lot of uncertainty with our spiraling downward economy and a crucial presidential election on the horizon, so being grateful for what is happening to us or around us may be a bit of a challenge right now. My sermon will focus on how we can shine light into darkness to find the peace and grace of God no matter what is happening in our daily lives -- to me this is the essence of Thanksgiving.

Sermon by Matt Meyer. Matt's worships provide a dynamic and varied experience of rhythm's enduring power to teach us about ourselves and each other. Matt's worships allow the participants to feel the congregation as a community of music makers, tapping into something that truly brings a feeling of wholeness to those gathered in this spirit of profound worship. Matt Meyer is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music and has studied abroad in Cuba, Ghana, and Central America. Matt has lead worships for dozens of UU congregations including several General Assemblies. He plays percussion for several bands around Boston, as well as teaching private lessons and leading workshops for schools and churches. Matt is active with the UU Young Adult movement and is always seeking new and better ways to combine music, spirituality and social justice work.

How have recent changes in our government changed your relationships, your vision of justice and peace, your dreams for a better world? Is it all happening so fast? Or not fast enough? Come, and sit watch, Come and be the change. Reverend Megan Lynes is a lifelong Unitarian Universalist, ordained just this past December in Canton, MA, where she completed her student ministry in 2006. She currently works as a hospital chaplain at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, and volunteers at The Children's Room, a bereavement center for children and families, in Arlington, MA. Megan is an artist and animal lover, and enjoys spending time with young people. She's thrilled to be back again guest preaching in Salem where everyone is always so welcoming and kind!
