Welcome to the First Universalist Society of Salem, Massachusetts!

After much careful reflection, the members of the First Universalist Society of Salem have voted to merge with the First Parish Church UU in Beverly. During the summer, First Parish (225 Cabot Street, Beverly)holds 10 AM worship at Dane Beach (110 Lothrup St.) in Beverly - please look for us there.

As the congregation has found a new home, we have also begun work on transforming our historic building to serve the greater Salem community as a new non-profit organization that will be called The Bridge at 211. This work has commenced and will continue under a Board of Directors consisting of church members, community leaders, and others in the greater UU church community. Preserving the building and its place in Salem's rich history is an important part of our mission as is promoting social justice and cultural enrichment, including serving as the permanent base for the Salem Food Pantry and offering subsidies to various non-profit organizations. We are planning a ribbon-cutting and open house to showcase the repurposed building for November 14. Anyone interested in helping with this event, please email office@salemuu.org

The non-profit entity will create many partnerships and aims to become a community destination where people can gather for artistic, cultural and social events.

We will continue to update these pages as our story unfolds. This is in fact the end of an era, but we're looking forward to what comes next.
